WELCOME HOME!
Briarcrest Estates is a resident-owned manufactured home community on 230 acres in Laconia and Belmont, New Hampshire. We are a terrific neighborhood for people who like a country setting with local conveniences less than 10 minutes from downtown Laconia, and only 30 minutes from Concord. Laconia and Belmont are nestled in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire, with Lake Winnisquam as the border to our west and Lake Winnipesaukee to the east. The Lakes Region of New Hampshire is where many come for vacation – but it's the beautiful area that we call home.
Briarcrest Estates is owned by the co-op members who live here – we are a resident-owned community (ROC). That means we control the rent and make the rules. In late 2013, we formed Lakemont Cooperative, Inc. (doing business as Briarcrest Estates) and, on April 30, 2014, the Cooperative purchased the land and infrastructure, such as the roads and water lines. Now, a democratically elected board of directors manages the business of running Briarcrest Estates. Every member household in the community has a say in who sits on that board, how we spend our money, the annual budget, and whether we make changes to the rent.
We're also part of a national network of almost 200 ROCs just like us. That membership provides us with access to expert coaching on how to run our ROC, leadership development and training, communications with dozens of community leaders who face many of the same issues we do, and more. Life in Briarcrest Estates is truly different than in a commercially owned community – we invite you to find out first-hand how that difference makes living here so much better.
